Our Story

The 21st Century Academy of Academic Excellence was created in January 2016 to assist students in achieving their professional career goals.  This is a public benefit Indiana based non-profit corporation. The founder, Dr Michael W. French, is a retired neurologist.  He saw a need to work with parents and students to provide them with strategic recommendations, opportunities, and experiences.  As students  matriculate through each level of their academic careers, they lose continuity with their advisors and or teachers.  They don’t have the benefit of a longitudinal, prospective one to one relationship with a mentor who can follow them on a long term basis.   Certain public schools in Indianapolis, Indiana have as many as 3,200 students.  Guidance counselors are assigned students by the first letter of their last names.  One counselor  can have over 200 students.

We developed a system in which a student is given a list of questions to answer.  Upon completion, the student is creates an IECP (Individual Educational Career Plan).  This plan is designed to provide guidance, information, timelines, and opportunities to give students a roadmap to success. Through this process we use the student's grade level, current course load, Grade Point Average (GPA), class rank, extra-curricular activities, volunteer experiences, SAT and ACT scores, plans for college, and eventual career goals to help students and their parents or guardians think through the educational process and next steps.

Depending on the student’s career goals, we make an effort to match each student with either an older student already studying in that discipline, or a professional who is currently working in that field.
